Illustrating an Interval on your Number Line

Before you can show an interval on a number line, you must be able to create a basic number line. If you have not already made a basic number line, look at that page first and then come back and learn about showing intervals�..
 

Illustrate an Interval on the Number Line

Create your Basic Number Line
Double Click on the number line to re-open the figure box




Let�s Say we want to show the interval: [ -2 , 3 )

Click on the line button in the figure editor and a line will appear.

Let�s make the line thicker.
Click on the line to highlight it.
Right Click on the line and select Line Width. When the Line Width box opens, type in 4.

 

Click on one of the points of the line to highlight it
Right Click on that point and select Aligned.
Right Click on that point again and select Color. When the Color box pops up, choose white.
Right Click on that point again and select Size. When the size box opens up, type in 5.
Click and drag that point down to the number line at -2


Click on the other point of the line to highlight it
Right Click on it and choose Aligned.
Right Click on that point again and select Size. When the size box opens up, type in 5.
Click and drag that point down to the number line at 3




We are done. Click on the in the top right hand corner of the Figure Editor and the editor will close and your interval will appear on the composer screen. Arrange it how you like on the page.
