Working with Objects

Insert an object into your project

From Edit menu, point to Insert, then select the object you wish to insert.
The object's editor window will open.
To close the object's editor window either click on the close button on the title bar or from the object's File Menu click on Close.

Note: You can also insert an object by:

Selecting the object from the drop down menu on the toolbar, or

Right-click somewhere within the current page and point to Insert, then select the object.

Select an object

Click on the object that you wish to select (a red selection box will appear around the object to indicate that it is selected)

To edit an object that already exists in your project

Select the object that you wish to edit
From Edit menu, select Edit or double-click on the object.
object Editor window opens.
To close the object's editor window either click on the close button on the title bar or from the object's File Menu click on Close.

Move an object

Select the object that you wish to move
Click on the object (the mouse pointer will change into ). Hold down the mouse button and drag the object to the desired position on the page. Then release mouse button.

Resize object

Select the object that you wish to resize.
To resize the object while keeping current proportions, click on and drag the sizing handle at the bottom right corner of the object selection box (the mouse pointer will change into ). Release mouse button when the object is the desired size.
To resize the object in the horizontal direction only, click on and drag the sizing handle in the middle of the right hand side of the object selection box (the mouse pointer will change into ). Release mouse button when the object is the desired size.
To resize the object in the vertical direction only, click on and drag the sizing handle in the middle of the bottom of the object selection box (the mouse pointer will change into ). Release mouse button when the object is the desired size.

Note: To restore the object to its original size, From Edit menu, select Restore Defaults.

Change object Background to Opaque

Select the object whose background selection you wish to change
From Edit menu, select Opaque Background.
To change back to non-opaque background, repeat the previous two steps.

You can also change background to Opaque by right-clicking and selecting Opaque Background.

If an object background has been set to Opaque, a check will appear next to Opaque Background in the Edit menu.

Align objects

Select the object you want to align
From Edit menu, select Aligned
To change object back to non-aligned, repeat the previous two steps.

The alignment settings can be changed by selecting Page Setup from the File menu. The default grid size is .62cm (1/4 inch).

You can also set your object to align to the grid by right-clicking and selecting Aligned

If an object is aligned to the grid, a check will appear next to Aligned in the Edit menu.

Copy or Cut an object

Select the object you wish to copy or cut
From Edit menu, select Copy or Cut.

Notes: You can also copy a selected object by right-clicking and selecting Copy or Cut

Copied objects can be pasted into any open project in Math Composer on any page. It can also be pasted into documents created in other programs, such as word processing programs.

Paste an object

Click on the location in the page in the project where you want to paste an object.
From Edit menu, select Paste.

Delete an object

Select the object you wish to delete
From Edit menu, select Delete.

Note: You can also delete a selected object by right-clicking and selecting Delete.
